PIERHEAD JUMP by TOMMY MILLER
First published in 1996 by Pharaoh Press
Tommy Miller's book is an hilarious account of one Liverpool seaman's adventures as he sails around the world. Due to popular demand, Tommy's book is going into its second re-print and at the age of 80, he is working on his second book, The Unlucky Queen stories of his voyages aboard the ship called the Reina del Pacifico, Queen of the Pacific.
Pierhead Jump is not just one man's story but gives a rare insight into Liverpool's seafaring heritage and the ships and cargoes leaving a city which was once the second largest port in the world. Shipping lines, destinations, crews and their
stories, sea shanties and superstitions are all fascinating elements of this book.
Tommy was an honorary guide for the Capital of Culture and is a very well known character around the city's streets as well as having been a guest on Billy and Wally's programme for Radio City back in the nineties.
